Mark Mint defined

Definition:A mintmark is a letter, or other symbol that identifies the Mint in which was rendered to a particular currency. On most currencies of the United States, the mintmark is a D (for the Denver Mint), or s (for San Francisco). Sometimes P was used (Philadelphia), and other trademarks for historical issues (as for the city of Carson CC.) The positions of Mint marks on some of the currencies of the United States are currently circulating, but remember that if the mintmark is absent, the coin was minted in Philadelphia. The mintmark Philadephia often omitted.

The Lincoln Cent, the mintmark is under date on straight.

On Jefferson Nickel since 1968, the mintmark follows the date on the obverse.

The Roosevelt Dime since 1968, the mintmark is right above the date on the obverse.

The District of Washington since 1968, the mintmark is about four hours straight from position, just behind the tape for hair in Washington.

The District of Statehood, the mintmark is just below "In God We Trust" on the obverse.
