The presidential dollar coin series is a new type of regular, circulating dollar, US Mint issued beginning in 2007. These coins are made on diskettes dollar themselves as Sacagawea Golden dollar, with one important difference-have edge lettering! The President dollars are issued at a rate of four times a year, until all the U.S. Presidents have been highlighted, currently planned for the year 2016. Presidents who had more than one consecutive term will only get a coin, but a President who served two terms are not consecutive, Grover Cleveland, there will be two times. Presidents of life won't be minted; Presidents must be died two years before they are eligible.
The currency of George Washington, the first of the series, was released on 15 February 2007. The Lincoln Presidential dollar was released at the end of 2010 and should not be confused with the dollar commemorative Lincoln issued in February 2009.

When Congress passed the Bill which gave a mandate to the emission of presidential dollar coins, decided that free speech could be represented correctly by including the statue of liberty as a design element on the back of all presidential dollar coins. Congress wanted to make more room on the coin for images, so that the portraits would be larger and more appealing. Therefore, for the first time ever against United States circulating coins, the word freedom not appear!
In line with the desire of the conferences most prominent images on new dollar coins, the presidential dollar have lettering (recessed) incused around the edges of the currency. The inscriptions "In God We Trust" and "E Pluribus Unum" is expressed around the edge of the coins 2007 and 2008, in addition to the date of issue and the mintmark. In 2009, by popular demand and Congress, the motto "In God We Trust" was moved back to straight (side "heads") of coins.
The lettering is applied randomly with respect to whether faces upwards or downwards coins corporate strike after coins are affected. Coins of business strike (which normally circulating problems) travel in small trays along a conveyor belt leading in lettering prepares the machine, which aligns them in any way coins happen to enter the process (heads up or down). Then roll coins through a device that writes the edge lettering. It is expected that eventually lettering heads-up should roughly equal numbers of coins which receive the lettering of the "Cross high".
The edge lettering for coins test is done with a collar of three parties specifically that will always be (hopefully) make sure the edge lettering faces upwards.
Before the United States, presidential dollars circulating coins had not had edge lettering since 1933, thus causing a lot of interest, now that has taken over the edge lettering, especially in the light of all the Presidential Dollar coins error be found.
Because of the edge lettering now applied to some coins, in 2007 the Mint US redesigned packaging for its various sets of mint and set as a proof so that people can see the edges of coins through holders.
Congressional legislation that mandates series Presidential Dollar directs the Mint to insert the "name and likeness" of a President of the United States on the obverse of the coin, as well as the dates he served in the Office and its numerical place online. The reverse bears a "dramatic representation of freedom" (in the form of statue of liberty) that stretches over the edge of the coin, but without giving the appearance of a double-headed currency.

From 2009 onwards, the Sacagawea dollar has a kind of reverse Memorial annually changing honoring native Americans. In addition, Sacagaweas now have the same edge lettering that get presidential dollars.
In order to promote the movement of the Presidential $ 1 coins in spring 2008 the u.s. Mint has created a program where people can buy coins at face value, through the mail. There are no shipping charges, so that if you cannot find presidential dollars at local banks, drop shipment $ 1 Coin is your answer.
In January of 2009, the Mint added the Sacagawea dollars for drop shipment.
