The series of Lincoln Memorial Cent has produced a number of popular mold varieties, including those listed below. Every year, it seems that the Red Book (A Guide Book of United States coins) adds another variety or two its weekly listings, such that we have a growing catalog of widely recognized and sought after Lincoln Memorial penny die varieties. In the interest of making a useful list, I'm omitting varieties that are worth less than about $ 5 in condition of Sigma (very fine, or slightly spread).
Main varieties include:
Notes: (a) the stem of variety "Wide are" and "close AM" from use POC dies in circulation coins on strike and vice versa. Refer to the first two letters of AMERICA and if they are almost touching or not.(b) there are numerous varieties 1972 doubled die minors who have no additional value because of a nut master having doubled during and ' hub. No one knows for sure how many dies of work were produced from this Die master doubled, but they were distributed to all three mints. If you need a magnifying ten power see doubling on a penny 1972, it probably isn't worth much because there are so many Nice dies of doubled in this year that are visible to the naked eye.
(c) since 1994, a few cents of Lincoln Memorial in high quality show traces of a mint removed on currency. The cause is believed to be removing D and S mintmarks from moulds or Hub were originally intended to be sent to the branch ticks, but which ended used in Philadelphia. Apply a small premium on normal coins for that date.
If you are seriously looking for Lincoln Memorial Cents variety profitable, you need to consider the development of a method that lets you work systematically your way through a large number of coins in a short period of time. By running the same sequence of steps and above methodically, the search rate will improve greatly, and so will your success in search of variety, because, like many things, is reduced to a numbers game.
